The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production rose 0.8 percent in the week ending March 2, following a 1.6 percent increase a week ago.
Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,857,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 0.8 percent increase from the 1,843,000 nt produced in the previous week and a 7.2 percent decrease from the 2,000,000 nt produced in the same week a year ago.
The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 77.5 percent in the week ending March 2, compared to 76.9 percent in the previous week and 80.4 percent in the same week last year.
